Our home boy Zach of Zach Hatchet Images is officially holding it down for Racketeer Robot with event photography. So if any of you guys were at the Summer Shock Hop last weekend @ Flamingo Cantina then he probably has your soul captured on film. The show was great and the crowd was great. Our last blog post explains more of what the show was about but this shows more of what happened. All the bands (The Ghost Storys, Turbo 350 , Danger*Cakes , Deadtown , and The Phantomatics) destroyed the venue with each group's unique live sound, Drew Edwards tossed out some free shirts from Vandoll Clothing and zombie coloring books by Reanimated Response the webcomic, and our home girl Alex of Apocalypse Wow won Miss Summer Shock Hop! Flip through the pics and find yourself if you went or flip through the pics and see what you missed. We are still editing the video footage taken from the show so look out for that later this weekend posted on the site!
That's right. The Halloween Man himself invited Racketeer Robot to come out and set up a table at the Summer Shock Hop. The event is for a great cause benefiting Kids in the Groove. There will be five hot bands, an even HOTTER pin-up contest, dancing, and creative local vendors (like your boys at RackRobo), all for five bucks!
The event will be @ Flamingo Cantina on Sat. Aug. 27th
21 and up
Doors open at 7pm
So come out and hear some live music by The Ghost Storys , Turbo 350 , Danger*Cakes , Deadtown , and The Phantomatics!
Vandoll Clothing will be making their hot gear available there as well, and Freak Show Festival will be bring the style for sure. We are glad to be part of something with fun people and an awesome cause, so come out and see us and be part of it too!
Shirts printed for the Summer Shock Hop, "Racketeer Robot Metal Works". Be the first to get in one!
Big "Thanks" to everyone that came out to Red Eye Fly to hang with us and witness DF wreck the mic once again. People were picking up their copies of "Hardship to Triumph", snagging up Racketeer Robot merch in the shirt toss, and having an all around good night with good music and good friends. Jennifer Jenkins even made it out to the show and hooked it up by taking some great photos for us. Peep her site!! And for those of you that couldn't make it out, don't worry because Doug Funnie has another night lined up at Red Eye Fly on 9/29/11 and you know your Rack Robo duo will be there with shirts!
Don't forget to check out DF's tracks we have posted in our MUSIC tab!
STRIP – The Dallas Webcomics Expo! (Formally known as DWEX) will debut it’s 3rd year convention on August 6, 2011 at the Southfork Hotel in Plano, TX. Visitors can enjoy a day of webcomics and sci-fi/fantasy geekery such as movies, books and cosplay. Activities at STRIP 2011 include: Q&A panels with the artists, featured trivia and hosted games, a children’s area featuring a cartoon drawing station and video gaming center, and a LIVE ART SHOW for charity with proceeds going to The Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children.
This will be the first year for us to join of course but it should be great. Racketeer Robot will be teaming up on a table with the best firefighting zombie killing comic on the web, Reanimated Response. RackRobo will be selling our limited edition Wizard of Oz series shirts Part 1 of Dorthy and the TinMan to spread the love to Dallas area comic art fans. So come by StripCon if you're in Dallas and visit our table to see what's up in the world of robot racketeering.

Spreading the art and word of Racketeer Robot once again with body painting! This time we were able to hook some girls up with cool paint on a party boat event hosted by PALS out of Cedar Park this past Friday. PALS put on a great event with a couple live DJs, an onsite masseuse, body painting of course, food and drinks, and a sold out crowd. Everyone was great and the water was very necessary that very hot day. Check out the slide show below to see what RackRobo was able to work with and let us know what you think with a comment!
The other night we were able to meet another cool artist that runs his own printed tee project from San Marcos. He introduced us to his way of networking with other artists through his sketch book by having Shane cover a fresh page for him. Flipping through his book we noticed a few other good pieces sketched up by artists from all over. So now the book is ready to hit the rest of the world and let people know the Racketeer Robot has good stuff coming!
The three pics below show a three part break down of how to draw like a racketeering robot:
Step 1: Draw the main bad ass part.
Step 2: Add more little bad ass parts to the main bad ass part.
Step 3: Finish it off by not leaving a square inch of the page without awesomeness.
The past two weekends Shane has been styling the women of Austin with some Racketeer Robot art in the form of body painting. Even though our main goal with RackRobo is to design and sell custom graphic T-shirts we can still hook it up with cool designs for those that choose not to wear a shirt. Here are a few pics to prove it. The Madison on 5th was a great place for it and we look forward to getting Shane more gigs there. We always get to meet fun girls that enjoy having our style of art in a big way across their body or sometimes just in a small way on just their arm or leg... We hook it up for all! So look out for us in downtown Austin when you're out having fun this weekend and give us a shout.
<--Shane putting that "action-comic" twist on things.
<--After each girl was painted there was no doubt which ones were painted by that dude Shane.
<--See what I mean? Can't mistake that style.
That is what's cool about the experience we have had at the Madison so far though. All the other painters have a different style from each other coming from different backgrounds of art.
<--It's hard for the design to not look good from the start considering the "canvas" being used. All girls were great.
^At the end of the night we were able to make a "girls just getting back from Vegas party" happy with a little arm art with Shane and I being able to take part in the picture.
If you have the desire for custom prints on shirts and comics then Vinyl Toys have got to be in there too! We plan on entering in a few custom Racketeer Robot designed vinyl toys into a raffle that will be held at our first shirt design's live sales event. Shane will design and paint the toys in the "action comic" styling of RackRobo for a few lucky collectors of art that is not only limited but bad ass. Everybody loves free stuff so stay updated and don't miss out Austin!
It has begun! ...And Shane is going in a bad-ass direction with this one, so stay tuned and look out for the finished product.
